Legal Secretaries apply specialised knowledge of legal terminology and procedures in providing support to legal professionals in communication, documentation and internal managerial coordination activities in law offices, legal departments of large firms and government offices.

Tasks
Performing the duties associated with the legislation, including the registration, trial, suit, prosecution and administration of the court.
Preparing and processing legal documents and papers such as deeds, wills, affidavits and briefs.
Reviewing and proofreading documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures.
Preparing verbatim reports on proceedings in the legislative assemblies, courts of law or other places in shorthand or by other methods.
Mailing, faxing or arranging for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses and court officials.
Organising and maintaining documents, case files and law libraries.
Screening requests for meetings, scheduling and organising meetings.
Assisting in the preparation of budgets, monitoring of expenditures, drafting of contracts and purchase or taking orders.
Assisting the head of unit and other staff with queries of an administrative or organisational nature.
Supervising the work of office clerks.
Performing related tasks.
