Assistant Environmental Health Officer Grade U5 responsible for carrying out duties in the aspects of management, planning, control, prevention, legislation, and law enforcement related to public health and environmental health activities, namely disease control, food safety and quality, Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation (BAKAS), Water Quality Control (KMAM), and entry point health (airport, port, and land).
Tasks
Implementing public and environmental health activities in accordance with assigned duties.
Controlling diseases through monitoring and data collection, outbreak investigation, control/prevention measures, law enforcement, health promotion, in-situ analysis, and environmental and occupational health.
Ensuring food safety and quality through food sampling, premises inspection, report preparation, follow-up recommendations, import/export control, law enforcement, monitoring, and statistics.
Implementing rural water supply projects, inspecting wastewater disposal, and maintaining and calibrates testing equipment for Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation (BAKAS) projects.
Conducting Water Quality Control (KMAM) by preparing sampling programmes/schedules, performing sampling and analysis, undertaking corrective actions for quality breaches, and maintaining and calibrating testing equipment.
Controling entry point health (airport, port, land) through ship inspection (Ship Health Clearance, Deratting Certificate/Exemption), assessment of Sanitary Airport/Sea Port, foreign worker screening, and imported food screening.
Carrying out legislation and enforcement by acting as Investigating Officer, preparing investigation papers, managing documents/records/exhibits, and serving as a witness in prosecution cases.

Ability to manage, guide and supervise personnel under their supervision.
Ability to perform supervisory duties and provide advisory services to subordinates.
Ability to plan human resource, training, financial and logistical requirements.
Ability to understand and carry out enforcement tasks related to public health laws and health at border entry points.

Ability to plan, coordinate and analyse occupational and environmental health activities.

Knowledge and understanding in implementing public health activities including prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases, vector control, food safety and quality, water supply and environmental sanitation.
Knowledge and understanding of occupational and environmental health including workplace risk assessment, investigation of chemical poisoning, pesticide exposure and occupational diseases.
Skills in applying and implementing public health activities in accordance with established acts and regulations.
Skills in applying enforcement and prosecution tasks under public health laws.
Skills in conducting prosecution duties and handling appeal cases related to public health laws.
Skills in identifying and implementing occupational and environmental health activities including risk assessment and workplace investigations.
