Veterinary Officer Grade GV9 responsible for controlling animal and zoonotic diseases and providing clinical treatment, ensuring that animal-based protein foods are disease-free and safe for entry into the human food chain, planning and implementing development, maintenance, and improvement of livestock quality, enforcing import and export laws on animal and livestock products in accordance with international regulations (WOAH, WTO, FAO, etc.), preparing technical and general reports on the department’s development and annual progress, and performing other departmental administrative duties in accordance with the specific requirements and guidelines of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH-formerly known as OIE) for Good Veterinary Governance and Quality Veterinary Services.
Tasks
Conducting health examinations, disease investigations, tentative and differential diagnoses in animals based on clinical signs and post-mortem findings.
Providing clinical treatment (e.g., administration of veterinary medicines, clinical procedures, and issuance of prescriptions), performing minor elective surgeries, and assisting in major surgeries (assistant surgeon).
Implementing control and prevention measures (metaphylaxis and prophylaxis) to prevent disease spread, including disinfection, vaccination, treatment, culling, disposal, and livestock movement control.
Performing bacteriological, virological, parasitological, pathological, and other diagnostic tests on animal disease samples.
Reviewing and certifying Veterinary Health Certificates for the movement of live animals.
Conducting document and field inspections on animal health, premises (slaughterhouses and processing plants), livestock products (domestic and international), and animal feed to ensure quality and safety under departmental certification programmes (GAHP, MyGAP, MYOrganik, VHM, GMP, GVHP, and other relevant certifications).
Inspecting the use of veterinary medicines and biologics to ensure compliance with prescriptions and usage instructions.
Conducting breeding soundness examinations and livestock suitability assessments for breeding purposes, including pregnancy diagnosis.
Providing advisory services covering technical advice on animal health and welfare, veterinary public health, regulatory, legal, and livestock industry development aspects.
Preparing training modules and course schedules.
