Generalist Medical Practitioners diagnose, treat and prevent illnesses, infections, injuries and other physical and mental impairments and maintain general health in humans through application of the principles and procedures of modern medicine. They are responsible for the provision of continuing and comprehensive medical care to individuals, families and communities.

Tasks
Examining and treating patients, managing treatment and examination of pregnant women and delivering babies, inspecting bodies and preparing reports, performing on-call duty and delivering lectures.
Examining the patients to determine the nature of infections or illnesses.
Conducting medical examinations and making diagnoses.
Prescribing medicine and treating diagnosed illnesses, disorders or injuries.
Giving advice on and applying preventive medicine methods and treatments.
Participating in the development and implementation of public health laws and regulations to safeguard and promote the health of a community.
Teaching medical students and other health sciences students, medical specialists and other health professionals.
Preparing scientific papers and reports.
Enhancing knowledge and coordinating work performance.
Performing related tasks.
