Marine Engineer is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems on ships and marine vessels. This includes propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, power generation units, and other critical onboard equipment. They ensure that all systems function safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime regulations, oversee technical operations, manage engineering crews, and perform emergency repairs to maintain the seaworthiness of the vessel and the safety of its crew and cargo.

Tasks

Design, install, inspect, diagnose, and maintain propulsion, auxiliary, and other ship machinery and onboard mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.

Supervise and manage the engineering team to ensure efficient and safe ship operations.

Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental conventions.

Manage fuel consumption, bunkering operations, and onboard energy efficiency.

Coordinate repairs, refits, technical tests, and emergency responses for ship machinery and systems.

Maintain accurate operational records, logs, and engineering documentation.

Provide technical advice during vessel construction, modifications, and dry docking activities.

Collaborate with naval architects, shipyards, and other professionals on vessel operations and maintenance.
