Landscape Architect Grade J9 planning, preparing, coordinating, and implementing public parks and recreational facilities as well as landscapes nationwide, and ensuring that they are well designed and constructed, practical, and safe. Formulating policies, Acts, guidelines, and information related to landscape planning, construction, and management. Coordinating the planning of landscape development programmes through the use of appropriate information system support services and computerisation with accessible information. Ensuring that landscape development complies with prescribed standards, guidelines, and specifications. Providing professional landscape development planning and technical advisory services. Providing advisory services and efficient landscape maintenance manuals for each landscape development project implemented. Preparing plans to develop and update landscape conservation programmes aimed at conserving, preserving, and enriching the nation’s landscape resources.
Tasks
Studying and preparing the Department’s development programmes within the Five-Year Malaysia Plan (MP) and prepares policies, guidelines, acts, and legislation related to landscape development.
Preparing the Landscape Master Plan (10-year planning) for nationwide landscape development.
Studying and planning research requirements in landscape and related fields for landscape conservation.
Executing and coordinating landscape research programmes in line with design and industry requirements.
Planning and coordinating the development of landscape and public park maintenance programmes nationwide.
Identifying potential applications of information technology and promotes the adoption of suitable current IT to support planning, development, and landscape management activities undertaken by all divisions/units within the department.
Planning and coordinating the implementation of landscape promotion programmes through landscape competitions, exhibitions, celebratory events such as National Landscape Day, mass media programmes, publications, and other related activities.
Preparing monitoring, planning, and evaluation works for the development needs of public parks and recreational facilities nationwide.
Identifying spatial planning issues and development project requirements in landscape projects.
Providing technical advisory services to all government sectors on planning, design preparation, and landscape construction aspects.
Assisting in preparing cost estimates, reviewing construction costs, and preparing cost planning for construction and development projects.
Skills
Basic
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Ability to provide professional opinions, offer advisory services, and present arguments effectively.
Specific
Ability in legal aspects related to landscape, project management, contract management, and appointment of consultants and contractors.
Ability to conduct landscape-related analysis.
Ability to produce high-quality reports.
Skills in using various computer software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and related applications.
