Environmental Control Officer Grade C9 responsible for enforcing the Environmental Quality Act (AKAS) 1974 and its regulations as well as the Exclusive Economic Zones Act 1984, providing technical services related to environmental management at the national and international levels, educating and raising public awareness on the shared responsibility to preserve the environment, meet the needs and stakeholder expectations.
Tasks
Conducting investigations on premises subject to the Environmental Quality Act 1974, and prepares investigation papers for pollution cases for legal action.
Serving as prosecuting officer, and witness in court proceedings.
Reviewing and providing comments on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report, Preliminary Site Assessment (PAT), and Written Permission (KB).
Studying and analysing environmental quality monitoring data.
Processing applications for new licences, licence renewals for Prescribed Premises (PYDT), as well as applications for the import and export of scheduled wastes.
Reviewing and processing applications for special management, and reuse of scheduled wastes.
Providing technical expertise services in environmental management.
Leading, managing, and supervising units or branches under their responsibility.
Supervising subordinate officers in daily duties, discussing and reviewing working papers, and prepares related reports.
Implementing environmental education and awareness programmes, and prepares training modules for Department of Environment (DOE) personnel.

Basic
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in Bahasa Melayu and English.
Ability to provide professional opinions and advisory services.

Ability to produce high-quality reports.
