Driver (Lorry) is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods using heavy vehicles such as lorries or trucks. This occupation involves planning delivery routes, operating and maintaining the vehicle, loading and unloading cargo, and keeping accurate delivery records. Drivers ensure compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations while coordinating with logistics and warehouse personnel to support efficient and reliable delivery operations.

Tasks

Drive heavy motor vehicles to transport goods safely over short or long distances.

Inspect and perform basic maintenance on vehicles to ensure safe operation.

Plan and follow the most appropriate routes to meet delivery schedules.

Load and unload goods safely and use lifting or tipping devices when required.

Ensure proper stowage of goods, secure goods, and cover goods to prevent damage or loss.

Maintain vehicle cleanliness and order and report mechanical or safety issues.

Comply with transport regulations and safety protocols during operations.

Handle delivery documentation, obtain signatures, and communicate with customers.

Provide customer service and support during deliveries as required.

Assist in related tasks as instructed by supervisors or drivers.

Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge to identify minor issues and ensure roadworthiness.
