The role involves combining materials accurately through appropriate assembly methods, checking inputs and outputs to ensure quality, consistency and durability. Work is carried out in accordance with established safety, quality and production requirements within leather goods manufacturing.
Tasks
Cut and trim leather pieces according to templates and product specifications.
Stitch leather components by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
Punch holes and prepare leather parts for the attachment of straps, snaps and other fittings.
Attach buttons, clasps, straps, eyelets and decorative trim using appropriate tools and machines.
Turn, shape and press assembled leather items to achieve required form and finish.
Inspect leather materials and finished products for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Carry out basic maintenance and operate stitching and related assembly equipment.
Follow workplace safety procedures when handling tools, machinery and materials.
Pack, label and prepare finished leather products for storage or dispatch.
