Glass Manufacturing/Processing Operator is responsible for producing, shaping, and finishing glass and fibreglass products. This role involves operating and controlling furnaces and specialised machinery to ensure materials are correctly annealed, formed, or assembled, while monitoring quality, inspecting products, and maintaining equipment for safe and efficient production. Operators also prepare and mix raw materials, perform polishing or finishing tasks, and collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure that all products meet design specifications and safety standards.
Tasks
Operate and monitor glass production equipment, including furnaces, presses, and mixing or polishing machines.
Prepare and measure raw materials accurately, load materials into machines, and monitor processes for consistency and quality.
Melt, shape, and form glass products, including tubes and fibreglass items, following exact specifications.
Inspect products throughout production and after finishing for defects such as cracks, bubbles, chips, or discolouration.
Apply finishing techniques, including polishing, buffing, curing, and trimming, to achieve the required surface quality.
Maintain and clean production equipment, perform basic maintenance, and ensure machinery operates efficiently.
Record production data, including temperatures, quantities, and process parameters, for tracking and analysis.
Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and production teams to optimise processes and meet quality standards.
Follow strict safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and comply with environmental and occupational regulations.
Troubleshoot equipment faults, report production issues, and identify safety hazards to ensure smooth and safe operations.
