Paper Pulp Refinery Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring machinery that refines and processes raw materials, such as wood, scrap pulp, or paper, into pulp for papermaking. They control equipment, including valves, to regulate flow, pressure, and temperature, ensuring the pulp meets quality standards. Tasks
Operate pulp refining machinery and adjust settings to optimise production.
Monitor pulp quality, moisture content, and material conditions to ensure product standards are met.
Operate and adjust valves, both manual and automated, to control the flow of liquids and gases.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections of machinery and valve systems.
Troubleshoot machinery and valve issues and coordinate repairs.
Feed raw materials into machinery and control processing and retrieval of output materials.
Support quality control processes to maintain consistent product quality.
Record operational data and prepare reports on production efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
Assist in start-up, shutdown, and operational procedures.

Basic
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols accurately.
Attention to detail when monitoring machinery, valves, and product quality to detect operational issues.
Basic communication skills to report operational status and coordinate with team members.
Basic mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity to operate and handle refining and valve equipment.
Basic numeracy skills for measuring, recording, and monitoring production data.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, piping diagrams, and equipment manuals for operational control.
Ability to regulate flow, pressure, and temperature of fluids and gases according to operational procedures.
Competency in implementing quality assurance practices to meet product standards.
Competency in performing routine maintenance, basic repairs, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on refining equipment.
Experience with process control systems to maintain pulp quality and production parameters.
Knowledge of industrial safety standards, including lockout and tagout procedures and environmental regulations.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining valves, including gate, ball, and butterfly types in manual and automated systems.
Proficiency in operating and monitoring pulp refining machinery, including adjusting temperature, pressure, and pulp consistency.
Proficiency in using valve testing and diagnostic tools for system maintenance.
