Plant Processing Operator (Mineral and Stone) is responsible for operating and monitoring machinery used to process minerals, ores, and stones to extract valuable materials or produce refined products. Duties include operating equipment for crushing, grinding, separating, and refining, as well as specialised machinery such as magnetic separators and flotation cells. The role also involves maintaining machinery, ensuring operational efficiency, adhering to safety and environmental regulations, and contributing to consistent product quality and production output.
Tasks
Operate and monitor crushing, grinding, and refining machinery to process raw minerals and stones to specified sizes.
Operate and regulate washing, screening, leaching, filtering, and extraction equipment to remove waste material.
Carry out mineral separation processes using flotation, gravity separation, thickening, filtration, magnetic, or electrostatic methods.
Set up and calibrate processing equipment, including flotation cells and magnetic separators, according to production requirements.
Measure and add reagents, chemicals, or solvents to facilitate mineral processing and concentration.
Monitor gauges, control panels, and process indicators, and adjust equipment settings to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
Conduct sampling and basic quality control tests to ensure output meets required standards.
Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and minor maintenance of processing machinery, and report faults or abnormalities.
Record production, operational, and quality data in logs or digital systems.
Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.

Ability to communicate effectively with team members and follow written and verbal work instructions.
Ability to operate basic mineral and stone processing machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures.
