Machine Operator (Stone Processing) is responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used to crush, grind, wash, and shape stones and mineral ores. They ensure the efficient production of construction and decorative stone products by monitoring equipment, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to safety procedures. The role is central to producing quality materials for building and decorative applications.
Tasks
Operate and monitor crushing, grinding, milling and sizing machinery to process stones and minerals to required specifications.
Set up and adjust machine settings according to the material type, size and stage of processing.
Operate washing, filtering and other separation equipment to remove waste and impurities from materials.
Conduct mineral concentration processes using flotation, gravity, magnetic, electrostatic or similar methods.
Mix or treat mineral ores with chemical solutions where required for further processing.
Load raw materials into processing equipment and handle, transfer or store processed products.
Perform routine inspections, cleaning and minor maintenance of machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Record production data and report equipment faults, abnormalities or quality issues to supervisors.

Basic mechanical aptitude to operate and handle industrial stone-processing equipment.
Basic numeracy and documentation skills for accurate recording of production data.
Clear communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
Knowledge of workplace safety practices and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
