They may also prepare mounts, shape and roll precious metals, and apply decorative finishes such as enamel to enhance the appearance of jewellery. They combine technical skill and craftsmanship to produce high-quality, finely finished pieces.

Tasks

Select, prepare, and inspect gemstones for setting.

Prepare mounts, settings, and other jewelry components.

Set gemstones securely using hand tools and machinery.

Make, remodel, and repair jewelry articles, ensuring gemstones are properly set and secured.

Operate rolling mills and other equipment to process precious metals for jewelry components used in gem setting.

Apply and finish enamel on jewelry, including firing, smoothing, and polishing.

Inspect finished jewelry and metal products to ensure quality standards are met.

Maintain and clean equipment and tools used in setting, rolling, and enamelling.

Collaborate with designers, jewelers, and production staff to ensure gemstones are set according to design and production requirements.
