Glazier installs, repairs and replaces glass in buildings and vehicles, including windows, doors, skylights, façades and vehicle windscreens and windows. The role involves measuring and cutting glass to specification, removing damaged panels, fitting and securing replacement glass, and ensuring proper sealing, insulation and structural integrity in accordance with relevant standards. Glaziers work on residential, commercial and automotive applications to ensure safety, functionality and durability of glass installations.

Tasks

Interpret blueprints, building plans, and specifications to determine glass installation requirements.

Measure, mark, and cut glass to the required size and shape for installation.

Select appropriate types of glass for buildings, vehicles, or other structures.

Install glass in windows, doors, frames, skylights, display cases, interior walls, and ceilings.

Install or replace windscreens and other glass components in vehicles or boats.

Remove damaged or broken glass and prepare surfaces for replacement.

Secure glass using clips, putty, sealants, or other fastening systems to ensure proper sealing and stability.

Operate lifting or handling equipment to transport and position large glass panels safely.

Calibrate or reconnect sensors and integrated features in vehicle glass where required.

Maintain tools and equipment and adhere to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
