Bricklayers construct, repair, and maintain walls, partitions, arches, chimneys, fireplaces, and other structures using bricks, stones, concrete blocks, and similar materials. They work on a variety of projects, including buildings, pavements, decorative installations, and high-temperature-resistant structures like furnaces and kilns, ensuring structural integrity, proper alignment, and durability.

Tasks

Read and interpret construction blueprints, plans, and technical drawings.

Lay bricks, stones, blocks, and other masonry materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, chimneys, fireplaces, furnaces, kilns, and other structures.

Measure, cut, and shape masonry units to required dimensions.

Mix and apply mortar, grout, or refractory materials to bond masonry units and ensure structural integrity.

Construct footpaths, kerbs, pavements, patios, garden walls, and other decorative or functional installations.

Prepare and level surfaces or foundations for masonry or paving work.

Inspect and maintain existing masonry, chimneys, and high-temperature structures.

Operate hand tools, machinery, and paving equipment safely.

Ensure alignment, levelling, and compliance with safety standards, building codes, and project specifications.

Clean, maintain, and prepare tools, equipment, and work areas.
