Public Health Assistant Grade U1 responsible for implementing control and prevention work in environmental hygiene, food hygiene, and safety programmes as well as control of infectious diseases related to its duties by using primary health methods/approaches.

Tasks

Controlling wastewater and solid waste disposal systems, including supervising construction and ensuring records, stocks of materials, and equipment are kept up to date.

Monitoring the quality of rural drinking water, including sampling water and measuring acidity and alkalinity levels.

Controlling infectious diseases, including active detection, assisting with disinfection, and reporting unusual incidents.

Controlling vector-borne diseases, including enforcing the Destruction of Disease-Carrying Insects Act 1975, conducting preventive activities, actively detecting disease, and carrying out environmental surveys.

Conducting health promotion activities.

Controlling food safety and quality, including food sampling, maintaining and updating the Food Premises and Food Handlers Register, and assisting in food poisoning investigations.

Managing health law enforcement, including assisting in premises inspections, closing premises when necessary, storing exhibits, serving notices and summonses, and preparing regular reports.

Preparing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual activity reports.

Monitoring general health, including conducting follow-up inspections at farms, mines, and schools, and providing feedback on pollution and toxic waste disposal.

Participating in control and preventive measures during and after natural disasters.
