Network Security Technician (ICT) is responsible for protecting and maintaining an organisation’s computer networks and information systems. They monitor network traffic, implement and manage security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and security software, and respond to breaches or unauthorised access. The role also involves maintaining IT infrastructure, troubleshooting network and application issues, supporting system operations, and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements, while collaborating with cybersecurity, development, and infrastructure teams to safeguard digital assets.

Tasks

Install, configure, and manage firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

Monitor system and network activity, analyse logs, and identify potential security threats.

Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and regular security audits.

Investigate and respond to cybersecurity incidents.

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot network and data communication systems.

Support users in resolving security-related network, system, and application issues.

Assist in developing and enforcing IT security policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.

Ensure compliance with IT security standards and regulatory requirements.

Identify and coordinate necessary software and hardware security upgrades.
