Assistant Legal Officer Grade L5 assists Legal Officers in the process of resolving cases in court, whether in Prosecution or Civil matters. Manages legal administrative matters in the office by recording investigation papers, preparing relevant files, drafting, typing, checking, filing with the court, and serving documents to the relevant parties. Prepares documents, drafts statements of claim or defence for routine cases, and assists Legal Officers in drafting-related duties such as managing gazettement, reading first proofs for blue copy printing, and compiling and preparing index lists of gazetted P.U. (A) and P.U. (B).
Tasks
Recording, reviewing, and submiting investigation papers before presenting them to the Head of the Narcotics Unit.
Recording and submitting investigation papers reviewed by the Head of the Narcotics Unit for submission to the Deputy Public Prosecutors.
Compiling monthly statistics of investigation papers received by the Deputy Public Prosecutors.
Preparing weekly monitoring lists of investigation papers received by the Deputy Public Prosecutors.
Recording all investigation papers to be returned to the State Prosecution Unit after the cases have received opinions or decisions.
Drafting letters to all Heads of State Prosecution Units to request investigation papers and responding to letters from lawyers or appellants regarding case status, for signature by the Head of the Narcotics Unit.
Preparing the monthly schedule of movements for Deputy Public Prosecutors.
Updating Individual Desk Files (FM).
