Signalling and Communication Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a signalling and communication system in a transportation network, particularly railways and urban transit. They ensure the safe and efficient movement of trains or vehicles by conducting inspections, troubleshooting equipment, updating systems, and coordinating with engineering and operations teams, working in control rooms and trackside environments, adhering to strict safety protocols, and ensuring continuous operation of communication and signalling systems.

Tasks

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate signalling and communication systems using specialised diagnostic tools according to engineering specifications.

Ensure compliance with national safety and technical standards during all signalling and communication system operations.

Update technical documentation and maintenance logs accurately and consistently.

Collaborate with operations staff to restore signalling and communication systems during service interruptions.

Conduct upgrades and integrate improvements to signalling and communication systems, including legacy system integration.

Train junior technicians or operators in the use and maintenance of signalling and communication equipment.
