Assistant Air Traffic Control Officer Grade A5 responsible to the Management and Professional Group Officer for carrying out duties in providing air traffic services to Malaysian airspace users (FIR Kuala Lumpur and FIR Kota Kinabalu) in accordance with the rules set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and in accordance with the powers given in the Aviation Act Malaysian Civil Aviation (MCAA 1969) and Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR 1996).

Tasks

Providing flight information and aircraft movement information.

Liaising with the Air Traffic Control Unit and airlines.

Managing weather reports, navigation aids, and communications.

Taking emergency action for aircraft in distress.

Recording and entering weather data into the Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) system.

Preparing flight strips and recording flight statistics.

Controlling aircraft movements on the taxiway and apron.

Preparing and correcting flight routes, and managing electronic data.

Informing Air Traffic Control Officers of anticipated flights.
