Botanical Technician supports the study, conservation, and management of plant species by assisting in the collection, identification, and analysis of specimens. They carry out laboratory and fieldwork, maintain plant databases, prepare samples for testing, and help manage a botanical garden, greenhouse, or herbarium collection, contributing to research on plant biology, ecology, conservation, and agricultural development, while ensuring accurate data recording, proper specimen care, and compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Tasks

Collect, identify, and catalogue plant specimens from field, greenhouse, and botanical garden environments.

Prepare and preserve plant samples and herbarium specimens for analysis, storage, and research purposes.

Maintain and monitor plants in nurseries, greenhouses, and experimental plots to ensure proper growth conditions and plant health.

Assist in setting up and conducting experiments related to plant biology, genetics, and ecology.

Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory and field equipment used in botanical studies.

Perform routine laboratory and field tests to monitor plant health, growth, and experimental results.

Record and manage observational and experimental data accurately in databases and reports.

Support pest, disease, and environmental management practices for plant populations.

Ensure compliance with laboratory, field, environmental, and safety regulations and guidelines.
