Biological Technician provides technical support in biological and medical research by preparing experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and collecting and analysing samples from plants, animals, humans, and other biological sources. They perform laboratory tests across areas such as microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and tissue culture, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with protocols, supporting research, diagnostic testing, quality control, and product development in healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture, and environmental sciences.

Tasks

Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.

Collect, prepare, and handle biological, chemical, and pharmaceutical specimens for laboratory analysis and experiments.

Conduct laboratory experiments and tests according to established protocols, and accurately record observations and results.

Prepare culture media, reagents, and chemical solutions under sterile and controlled laboratory conditions.

Monitor experiments and cultures to ensure quality control, proper development, and compliance with safety guidelines.

Maintain laboratory cleanliness, sterilise equipment, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Assist in data analysis, documentation, and preparation of reports for research and regulatory purposes.

Manage laboratory supplies, inventory, and equipment to ensure availability and proper functioning.

Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and healthcare professionals to support experiments and resolve technical issues.
