Pumping Station Operator manages and maintains a pumping station and associated pipelines for water supply, wastewater, and sewerage systems. They operate and monitor pumps and related equipment to ensure continuous and efficient system performance, performing routine inspections, minor repairs, and clearing blockages, maintaining operational records, reporting system status, and ensuring all activities comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Tasks
Operate, monitor, and adjust pumps, valves, and control systems to maintain required flow and pressure in pumping operations.
Start, stop, and operate electric, diesel, gas, or automated pumping equipment to ensure continuous fluid transfer through pipelines.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on pumps, motors, and related mechanical and electrical components.
Respond promptly to alarms, system faults, and operational disturbances to minimise downtime and restore normal operations.
Read, record, and compile operational data such as flow rates and pressure readings, and prepare routine performance reports.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to support repair works and preventive maintenance activities on pumping systems.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental guidelines, and emergency response procedures in all pumping station operations.
