Material Analysis Technician performs scientific testing and evaluation of construction and industrial materials such as concrete, steel, and asphalt. They analyse the physical and chemical properties of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and industry specifications, supporting quality control, research, and engineering teams by providing accurate data to identify material defects, improve processes, and inform decision-making.

Tasks

Conduct routine field and laboratory tests on soils, asphalt, concrete, grout, and masonry materials.

Operate analytical instruments, including spectrometers, microscopes, and hardness testers.

Conduct chemical and physical tests following standardised procedures.

Prepare field and laboratory reports, including diagrams and material quality assessments.

Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols.

Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning.
