Repair and Maintenance (R&M) Technician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing machinery, equipment, and building systems to ensure their safe and efficient operation. The role involves diagnosing mechanical or electrical faults, carrying out preventive maintenance, replacing defective components, and maintaining accurate maintenance records to minimise downtime and extend asset lifespan. R&M Technicians work across industrial and commercial settings, collaborating with engineers or supervisors to support operational continuity and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Tasks

Inspect and assess machinery and equipment for wear, damage, or malfunctions.

Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and part replacement.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic tools and manuals.

Repair or replace defective components or systems to restore equipment functionality.

Perform routine calibration and testing of machinery to ensure performance and safety.

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and reports.

Assist in mentoring operators on basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and safe equipment use.

Experience with welding, soldering, fabrication, and machinery alignment.

Familiarity with safety protocols and standards.

Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.

Skill in operating diagnostic tools and instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and vibration analysers.

Understanding and operation of hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
