They create, modify, and optimise 2D and 3D models, develop CNC programs, and translate engineering concepts into precise technical drawings and machining instructions, collaborating with engineers and production teams, maintaining documentation, troubleshooting CAD/CAM systems, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in manufacturing processes.
Tasks
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
Develop, modify, and maintain 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models based on engineering specifications.
Create and adjust Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programs for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining processes.
Work with engineers, draftsmen, and designers to support manufacturing processes and workflow improvements.
Prepare technical drawings and documentation for production use.
Conduct machining simulations and troubleshoot CAD/CAM issues to verify process accuracy.
Maintain CAD/CAM databases and libraries, and ensure data is updated and organised.
Follow quality and safety standards in all CAD/CAM and machining-related activities.
Support rapid prototyping and continuous improvement activities in manufacturing processes.

Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards and product lifecycle management systems.
Knowledge of material properties, machining constraints, and basic mechanical and electrical principles.
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
