Mechatronics Technician develops, installs, maintains, and repairs mechatronic and robotic systems used across industries such as manufacturing, automotive, electronics, and food processing. They work closely with engineers to assemble, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot automated machinery, ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with standards, optimising system performance, conducting regular inspections, and upgrading hardware or software to integrate new technologies.
Tasks
Install, configure, commission, test, and verify the operation of mechatronic and robotic systems, including automated machinery.
Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of machines and robotic systems.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance, as well as emergency repairs, on machinery and robots.
Calibrate sensors, instruments, actuators, and robotic tools to meet operational specifications.
Read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Collaborate with engineers to support the design, upgrade, and integration of mechatronic and robotic systems.
Program and configure robots and automated systems, including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and related control software, to optimise performance.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, repair, testing, and operational activities in logs and reports.
Train operators on correct system use, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety regulations.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Attention to detail, precision, and safety consciousness in performing tasks.
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, including robotics components and sensor technology.
Good communication skills for effective teamwork, reporting, and liaison with engineers and operators.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting mechanical, electronic, and robotic systems.

Competency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems maintenance and repair.

Knowledge in sensors, actuators, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, and automation components.
