Assistant Electrical Engineer supports the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. They assist senior engineers in planning and executing electrical projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations, and contribute to site inspections, troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning activities, while preparing technical documentation, coordinating with teams and contractors, and supporting project delivery in dynamic engineering environments.

Tasks

Assist in the design and development of electrical circuits, control systems, and equipment.

Prepare electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications under supervision.

Conduct site visits to inspect installations and support compliance with engineering standards.

Perform routine testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to support project milestones.

Prepare technical documentation, including reports, manuals, and maintenance schedules.

Support procurement activities and tracking of electrical components.

Assist in conducting risk assessments and support adherence to safety protocols on site.

Participate in meetings to provide updates and technical input on electrical works.

Support the Electrical Engineer in planning, coordinating, and implementing electrical projects.

Skills

Basic

Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve electrical issues.

Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Effective communication skills for coordination and reporting.

Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and concepts.

Ability to perform load calculations, fault analysis, and electrical system simulations.

Experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures.

Knowledge in preparing electrical technical reports and documentation.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations in electrical work.

Knowledge of industry codes and standards, including International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and Malaysian Electrical Standards.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and fault-finding of electrical machinery and control systems.

Proficiency in using electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or Electrical Transient Analyser Program (ETAP).

Skilled in operating electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.

Understanding of power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and wiring methods.
