Electrical and Instrument Supervisor oversees the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems in industrial, construction or building environments, including low voltage systems. They supervise technicians, coordinate maintenance and project activities, allocate resources, and ensure work complies with technical standards, safety regulations and project requirements. The role includes monitoring system performance, troubleshooting faults, conducting inspections and preventive maintenance, and maintaining records to support reliable and efficient operations.

Tasks

Supervise electrical and instrumentation technicians during installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory regulations.

Maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment records, including design data, operational information, drawings, and standards.

Perform troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on electrical and instrumentation systems.

Coordinate work schedules, resource allocation, and work orders from job identification to completion.

Conduct quality checks and inspections of electrical equipment and instrumentation.

Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Train and mentor junior technicians and support talent development.

Maintain documentation, including reports, inspection records, and maintenance logs.

Liaise with project managers, suppliers, contractors, and engineers to coordinate technical support and work progress.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and manuals.

Basic knowledge of project management principles in electrical and instrumentation work.

In-depth knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control System (DCS), and control valves.

Knowledge of cabling, wiring, and electrical system troubleshooting techniques.

Knowledge of coordinating installation and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Knowledge of electrical safety codes such as International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and asset management support.

Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical circuits, instrumentation devices, and control systems.

Proficiency in using testing and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and loop calibrators.
