Green Building Facilities Maintenance Technician maintains and supports the operation of environmentally sustainable buildings and related infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient and compliant performance. They carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, assist in technical tasks related to the design and upkeep of facilities, and monitor building performance in line with green building standards and energy efficiency requirements. They also coordinate with relevant parties and maintain documentation to support sustainability compliance and optimal facility operations.

Tasks

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, lighting, and water systems.

Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions and mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues.

Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety regulations, and green building standards during maintenance activities.

Maintain records of maintenance activities, system performance, and inspections.

Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and specialists for repairs, upgrades, and emergency maintenance.

Support energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives within the facility.

Basic

Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and building systems.

Competence in using maintenance tools and performing physical maintenance tasks.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Strong organisational and communication skills, including active listening and teamwork.

Ability to monitor system performance and support energy efficiency improvements.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.

Basic cabling and technical maintenance skills.

Competence in testing, diagnosing, and performing minor repairs on equipment and systems.

Experience with preventive maintenance and Building Management Systems (BMS).

Familiarity with green building standards and certifications such as Green Building Index (GBI) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Familiarity with sustainable materials and basic green building practices.

Knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
