Process Instrument Technician is responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems used in industrial processes. They test, repair, and inspect monitoring devices to ensure accurate, reliable, and safe operation, and perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and system upgrades, supporting the efficient functioning of manufacturing and processing facilities, and helping to minimise downtime while maintaining operational performance.
Tasks
Install, calibrate, and configure instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature sensors, and control valves.
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
Diagnose and repair faults in monitoring and measuring devices using meters, probes, and software.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, instrument performance, and system modifications.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all work activities.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support optimisation of process control systems.
Participate in system upgrades and equipment installations for measuring instruments.
Assist with general maintenance and support tasks to ensure system reliability.
Apply technical knowledge to identify, analyse, and solve problems in industrial systems.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.

Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for monitoring and maintenance.
Proficiency in cabling, wiring, and technical maintenance for instrumentation systems.
Proficiency in calibration, maintenance, and testing of industrial process instruments and sensors.
Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting instrumentation issues.
Proficiency in installation, commissioning, and loop checking of instrumentation systems.
Proficiency in operating and controlling instruments and associated process systems.
Proficiency in using and maintaining Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
