Identify defects, safety hazards, or non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, site activities, and progress reports.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Perform or assist in field and laboratory testing of construction materials and soils.
Report violations, risks, or non-compliance issues to relevant authorities and provide guidance for corrective measures.
Skills
Basic
Ability to interpret technical drawings, building codes, and construction methods.
Attention to detail and thoroughness in inspections and documentation.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders.
Good organisational and time management skills for managing inspections and reports.
Strong observational and analytical skills to identify structural and quality issues.
Specific
Ability to read, interpret, and analyse architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
Competence in operating inspection tools, measuring devices, and documentation software.
Competence in preparing detailed technical reports and compliance documentation.
In-depth knowledge of Malaysia’s building codes, regulations, and standards including Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), Malaysian Standards (MS ISO), fire safety, and environmental laws.
Knowledge in conducting site safety inspections and identifying hazards to ensure safe site conditions.
Knowledge in identifying structural or material defects and faults.
Knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations including Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) requirements.
Proficiency in construction quality control, assurance, and material testing including concrete, soil, and steel.
Understanding of structural engineering principles and construction technical processes.
