Engineering Designer develops and refines detailed designs for products, machinery, systems or structures in accordance with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements. The role involves preparing technical drawings, models and documentation, and working closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure designs are technically feasible, cost-effective and suitable for production or construction. Engineering Designers contribute to product development, improvement and quality assurance across a range of engineering projects.

Tasks

Develop detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional engineering drawings and models using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.

Collaborate with engineers and project teams to convert concepts into manufacturable designs.

Conduct design reviews and revise designs based on feedback, testing, and client requirements.

Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, assembly instructions, and material lists.

Ensure designs comply with relevant industry and organisational standards.

Assist in building and testing prototypes to validate designs.

Coordinate with manufacturing and quality control teams to support the resolution of design-related issues.

Provide design support during prototyping and testing phases.

Stay updated on new design tools, technologies, and engineering best practices.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, injection moulding, and sheet metal fabrication.

Knowledge of material selection and cost estimation.

Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Pro/ENGINEER.

Proficiency in three-dimensional modelling, rendering, and product lifecycle management (PLM).
