Civil Engineering Technician provides technical support to engineers in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and other civil structures. Tasks
Assist civil engineers in the design, planning, and review of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and buildings.
Prepare and update engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Conduct field surveys, site inspections, and collect data on soil, materials, and construction progress.
Test and analyse construction materials to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to design plans, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Provide technical support for equipment installation, calibration, maintenance, and operation.
Prepare project reports, progress updates, basic cost estimates, and other documentation.
Assist in coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders for project execution and technical requirements.
Identify and report site issues, deviations, or equipment faults, and assist in troubleshooting.
Organise and support maintenance, repair, and quality control activities on infrastructure projects.

Basic
Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, plans, manuals, and schematics accurately.
Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficient task completion.
Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and good organisational and time management skills.
Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and the ability to apply them in practical tasks.
Strong communication, teamwork, and coordination skills for collaborating with engineers, contractors, and site workers.

Ability to read, interpret, and draft technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Awareness of workplace safety practices, preventive maintenance, and site inspection procedures.
Competency in project documentation, technical report writing, and quality control standards.
Familiarity with construction methods and basic cost estimation or quantity surveying.
Hands-on experience with civil engineering equipment, field instruments, and site measurement tools.
Knowledge in providing technical support for structural engineering applications.
Knowledge of material testing procedures for soil, concrete, and steel, including basic surveying techniques using total stations, Global Positioning System (GPS), and levels.
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools such as Revit.
Skills in basic troubleshooting and operation of engineering tools and machinery.
Understanding of civil engineering principles, Malaysian construction codes, and environmental regulations.
