Interpreter Grade LA1
Interpreter Grade LA1 in addition to providing verbal interpretation in open court, the Interpreter fully assists the quorum members (Magistrates, Sessions Court Judges, and High Court Judges) in managing cases from pre-trial proceedings, during hearings, through to post-trial processes.
Tasks
Translating cases for defendants, witnesses, lawyers, and judges requiring interpretation.
Reading charges, case facts, probation reports, and other documents to defendants/accused in a language they understand during court sessions.
Announcing or calling cases for mention, hearing, and judgement, and scheduling new dates for such cases.
Administering oaths and obtaining personal details of witnesses during open court proceedings.
Receiving and registering new cases in the Court Register Book and recording case details in the Daily Log, Court Diaries, and Exhibit Book.
Preparing the Daily Court Report (statistics).
Managing charge sheets for cases that have been concluded in final series files.
