Data Architect designs, develops and manages an organisation’s overall data architecture to support enterprise information needs and decision-making. The role involves modelling and constructing databases and data warehouse systems, establishing standards for data integration, governance, security and performance, and ensuring the efficient processing and storage of large and complex datasets. They also oversee the integration and migration of data across systems to ensure consistency, integrity and accessibility in support of business intelligence and advanced analytics.

Tasks

Develop and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and scalable data architectures.

Extract, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources to build structured and high-volume datasets.

Ensure data quality through data cleaning, validation, and quality control processes.

Design and implement ETL and data migration processes.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT, and analytics teams to understand requirements and align data objectives.

Evaluate and recommend data technologies, tools, and infrastructure optimisations.

Identify and propose innovative uses of existing data sources and architectures to support business objectives.

Prepare documentation outlining data sources, models, processes, and algorithms.
