Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Officer manages and analyses geospatial data to support organisational decision-making. They collect, interpret, and maintain geographic information, produce digital maps, and perform spatial analyses to inform planning and operations in areas such as urban development, environmental management, infrastructure, and telecommunications.

Tasks

Develop and maintain geographic databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date spatial information.

Collect and validate spatial data using Global Positioning System (GPS), drones, and remote sensing technologies.

Analyse and interpret spatial and non-spatial data to support planning and decision-making processes.

Create maps, spatial models, and cartographic outputs for reporting and presentation purposes.

Support urban planning, environmental studies, and infrastructure projects using Geographic Information System (GIS) insights.

Integrate and standardise multiple datasets into cohesive formats for spatial analysis.

Train internal teams on Geographic Information System (GIS) software tools and best practices.

Maintain Geographic Information System (GIS) system hardware, software, configurations, and perform backups and troubleshooting to ensure system reliability and network accessibility.
