The role oversees exploration, extraction and processing activities, ensuring compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations while optimising resource utilisation and meeting production targets. They work closely with technical specialists, regulators and senior management to maintain operational performance and align production outcomes with organisational objectives.

Tasks

Design mining plans to optimise resource extraction and operational efficiency.

Plan, direct and coordinate mining and extraction activities at the site.

Supervise the deployment and operation of mining machinery, equipment and workforce.

Manage daily site operations and coordinate activities among engineers, technicians and labourers.

Ensure compliance with occupational safety, health, environmental and operational standards.

Liaise with regulatory authorities and environmental agencies to maintain compliance with regulations.

Set production targets, plan extraction schedules and monitor progress against operational goals.

Prepare operational reports, monitor budgets and evaluate the performance of mining activities.

Assess mine site conditions and evaluate opportunities for operational improvement.

Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to address safety and operational issues.
