Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Engineer develops and analyses a detailed computer model of a physical component to support the engineering process from design through to manufacturing. They perform simulations and evaluations to assess product behaviour under real-world conditions, identify improvements, and optimise the design to ensure performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Tasks
Conduct structural, thermal and dynamic simulations using computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools to evaluate component and product performance under expected operating conditions.
Interpret simulation results and recommend design improvements or modifications.
Collaborate with design and research and development teams to optimise product designs.
Analyse engineering requirements, simulation parameters, processes and procedures to support product development and improve workflow efficiency.
Develop and implement recommendations based on simulation findings to improve engineering processes and product performance.
Prepare simulation specifications and technical requirements to support modelling, analysis and related software applications.
Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations of simulation findings.
Participate in engineering design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer specifications.
