The role involves managing explosives, monitoring blast sites, and coordinating with engineers and safety personnel to ensure efficient and compliant operations.

Tasks

Conduct geological assessments to determine rock formation characteristics.

Design blasting patterns to ensure safe, efficient extraction and minimise environmental impact.

Select and calculate appropriate types and quantities of explosives for each project.

Manage the safe storage, handling, and transportation of explosives in compliance with regulations.

Coordinate and supervise blast crews to ensure blasting activities are carried out safely and in accordance with operational procedures and safety protocols.

Evaluate blast results and adjust techniques for future operations.

Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, including unstable rocks and gas emissions.

Maintain detailed records and reports of blasting operations and safety compliance.

Advise on and improve blasting methods to enhance extraction efficiency, safety, and compliance.

Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and safety personnel to optimise blasting operations.
