Mechanical Engineer researches, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively across various industries. They oversee the fabrication, installation, testing, maintenance, and optimisation of mechanical components, including engines, machinery, and static equipment such as pressure vessels and heat exchangers, while analysing system performance, conducting tests, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with safety, performance, and environmental standards.

Tasks

Interpret and apply technical drawings, schematics, and reports for the design, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems, components, and equipment for industrial and static applications.

Conduct tests, simulations, inspections, and performance analyses to verify functionality and ensure compliance with safety, performance, and environmental standards.

Research, develop, install, operate, and maintain mechanical systems and products to meet functional and regulatory requirements.

Troubleshoot mechanical faults, conduct failure analyses, and recommend corrective and optimisation measures.

Develop, coordinate, and monitor fabrication, production, and maintenance processes, including manufacturing methods and maintenance schedules.

Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other personnel to integrate systems, resolve technical issues, and provide engineering guidance.

Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, technical documentation, and inspection and test reports.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, schematics, and engineering software tools (e.g., CAD, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

Knowledge in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including preventive maintenance and Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage.

Knowledge in manufacturing and fabrication processes, including machining, casting, additive manufacturing, and fabrication.

Knowledge in mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis.
