Civil Engineering Technologist directs and supervises construction and maintenance work for buildings, infrastructure, and public facilities. They apply practical engineering principles to support the design, planning, and execution of civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, and water supply systems. The role includes defining construction methods and materials, preparing technical drawings, conducting site inspections, analysing construction data, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, while coordinating between engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.

Tasks

Conduct detailed site surveys and inspections to assess project conditions.

Determine and specify construction methods, materials, and quality standards for civil engineering works.

Prepare, review, and interpret technical drawings and plans to support project design and execution.

Support the maintenance and repair of buildings and public facilities by overseeing technical and engineering aspects.

Assist in project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring to ensure timelines are met.

Implement site control and quality assurance procedures to ensure structures comply with safety and environmental standards.

Collect and analyse data on construction materials, environmental conditions, and site factors to support quality control and project assessment.

Coordinate with engineers, contractors, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and project specifications.

Support contract administration and coordinate the implementation of Malaysian Standard International Organization for Standardization 9001 (MS ISO 9001) and other relevant standards.

Prepare comprehensive reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
