Network Operations Manager plans, directs and coordinates the installation, operation and ongoing maintenance of an organisation’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure and efficient network services. The role oversees network performance, resilience and compliance with relevant standards, manages teams of network engineers and vendors, and leads the deployment and integration of new network systems and technologies. It also supports strategic planning and resource management to align network capabilities with organisational and service delivery objectives.

Tasks

Lead and manage network operations and engineering teams to ensure effective service delivery.

In-depth knowledge of network protocols and services, including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Domain Name System (DNS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

Knowledge of cloud networking and virtualisation technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.

Knowledge of network design, architecture, and administration.

Knowledge of network hardware and infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, and Wireshark.

Knowledge of network policy development, operational procedures, and automation using scripting tools such as Python and Ansible.

Knowledge of network security standards and cybersecurity frameworks, including International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001 and MITRE frameworks.

Knowledge of vendor management and contract administration for network services.
