Metallurgy Manager oversees and coordinates metallurgical and steel-making operations to ensure production schedules are met efficiently and in line with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The role involves managing and improving metallurgical processes across production, refining, and testing of metals and alloys, while leading teams to optimise performance and resolve technical issues. The manager works closely with related functions to support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.

Tasks

Oversee metallurgical processes, including smelting, casting, alloying, and refining of metals.

Lead and supervise metallurgists, engineers, and technicians involved in production operations.

Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.

Plan and direct daily production operations, ensuring optimal use of resources and achievement of production targets.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in metallurgical operations.

Oversee the resolution of metallurgical issues, including material defects, production delays, and equipment failures.

Coordinate with other managers to establish production targets and plan processing activities.

Manage budgets, control operational costs, and evaluate equipment and technology investments.

Organise and coordinate staff training on safety standards, technologies, and production procedures.
