Railway Operations/Railway Yard Worker
Railway Operations/Railway Yard Worker is responsible for the safe and efficient movement and organisation of trains and railcars within yards and along designated tracks. They operate and monitor signals, switches, and braking systems, assemble and disassemble train compositions, and coordinate with drivers and other railway personnel to ensure punctuality and safety. This role also involves inspecting and maintaining equipment, managing train movements, and responding to operational irregularities or emergencies to maintain reliable rail services.
Tasks
Operate braking and signalling systems to control train movements safely.
Couple, uncouple, and switch rolling stock in yards, sidings, and stations according to operational orders.
Assemble and disassemble trains for hauling and position rolling stock for loading and unloading.
Inspect rolling stock, track switches, and train equipment to identify defects.
Maintain records of train movements, train make-up, and yard operations.
Perform maintenance and minor repairs on train braking and coupling systems.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and make timely safety-related decisions.
Basic mechanical aptitude and physical fitness to operate yard, coupling, and track switch equipment under varying conditions.
High attention to detail and alertness to monitor train movements, signals, braking systems, and yard operations safely.
