Tasks

Test and maintain boiler water quality, treating as necessary to prevent corrosion and scaling.
Troubleshoot and respond to equipment malfunctions or emergency shutdowns to maintain continuous safe operation.
Maintain accurate operational records, including logs of readings, fuel consumption, maintenance, and safety checks.
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, including fire safety protocols and maritime standards where applicable.
Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and other relevant teams for repairs, servicing, and operational efficiency.
Monitor and manage plant or boiler room operations, including support systems, to optimise energy usage.
Participate in safety drills, training, and confined space or hazardous work monitoring as required.

Ability to follow standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and emergency procedures accurately.
Ability to operate and monitor steam boiler systems safely, including understanding boiler mechanics and fire safety principles.
Ability to read gauges, meters, and control systems, and maintain accurate operational logs and records.
Basic mechanical aptitude to carry out routine checks, minor maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to report issues, coordinate with safety and maintenance teams, and work under pressure.

Ability in troubleshooting boiler malfunctions, pressure systems, and related equipment effectively.
Ability to conduct fire risk assessments, operate fire detection and suppression systems, and coordinate emergency responses.

Competency in maintaining operational logs, safety records, and performance reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
