Sampler (Mine) is responsible for collecting and preparing samples of rock, soil, water, and mineral deposits from mines or quarries to assess quality and composition for resource evaluation and extraction planning. They work on-site in open-cast, underground, or quarry locations, performing field and laboratory tasks while adhering to safety and environmental standards, and often collaborate with geologists and mining engineers.

Tasks

Collect rock, soil, coal, ore and other mineral samples from designated locations in mines or quarries for analysis.

Prepare, label, log and document samples accurately for laboratory testing and record-keeping.

Operate and maintain sampling equipment, geological tools and related machinery.

Assist geologists and engineers with field surveys, exploratory drilling and geotechnical investigations.

Record field data, sample locations and site conditions accurately, and report findings to supervisors.

Support mineral exploration and mapping activities by identifying and delineating mineral zones.

Operate and monitor mining machinery as required to access and obtain samples.

Ensure compliance with safety procedures and environmental regulations during sampling and related activities.
