Tasks

Fabricate, repair, and maintain household utensils, boilers, tanks, vats, decorative items, or industrial and vehicle components.
Install and repair sheet metal parts in vehicles, aircraft, or industrial equipment.
Apply surface finishes, fillers, polishing, or protective coatings as required.
Operate and maintain machinery, including computer numerical control machines, press brakes, and boring or shaping equipment.
Inspect and test completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, or clients to produce custom or specialised metalwork.
Plan, organise, and document fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities.
Skills
Basic
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design specifications.
Attention to detail and precision in measurements, fabrication, and assembly.
Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination for sustained manual work.
Problem-solving skills, including basic calculations and ability to assess and repair metal components.

Competency in pipe welding, soldering, and structural repairs.
Experience with computer numerical control machines, metalworking machinery, and computer-aided design and manufacturing software.
Experience with panel beating, dent removal, and aircraft or vehicle body repair.
Expertise in marking out, measuring, and aligning metal components accurately.
Knowledge of metal properties, sheet metal fabrication processes, and finishing techniques.
