Loan Officer
Loan Officer evaluates, authorises, or recommends approval of loan applications for individuals or businesses, including property-related loans. They analyse financial information, assess creditworthiness, verify documents, and explain loan terms while ensuring compliance with regulatory or institutional guidelines. They act as the main point of contact for clients, facilitating access to financial assistance and safeguarding the interests of the financial institution.
Tasks
Interview loan applicants to assess financial needs, eligibility, and suitable loan options.
Review, verify, and analyse applicants’ financial documents, including income records and credit history, to determine creditworthiness.
Evaluate and process applications for personal, housing, business, and other loan facilities.
Structure loan terms, interest rates, and repayment plans in accordance with applicants’ financial capacity and institutional lending policies.
Submit loan applications with recommendations for approval or rejection to credit analysts or management.
Explain loan procedures, conditions, and repayment obligations to applicants.
Coordinate with real estate agents, solicitors, underwriters, and internal departments to facilitate loan approval and disbursement.
Monitor loan accounts and repayment performance, and proactively follow up on overdue payments.
Maintain client relationships and promote loan and credit products to potential and existing customers.
Ensure all loan documentation and processes comply with internal policies and relevant financial regulations, including Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines.
